چکیده
(1) Background: The destruction of peatlands caused by forest fire can significantly damage the ecosystems, flora, and fauna found in forests. Swamp jelutung (Dyera polyphylla) is a tree species that be planted on peatland combined with seasonal plants to provide multiple economic environmental benefits. aim this study analyze biomass carbon stocks above belowground stands swamp an age class 10, 13, 17 years. (2) Methods: Observation plots were determined based classes D. polyphylla plants. using purposive sampling method size 20 m × 5 two sample each plant age. calculation measured diameters living trees without causing any damage. understory was obtained cutting then placing container before weighing recording wet weight. necromass measuring diameter length all wood. (3) Results: amount aboveground (trees) divided into 111.73 ton/ha (17 years), 55.96 (13 50.08 (10 years) classes. root had highest values 18.36 9.45 9.07 years). Meanwhile, organic C contents peat soil under 33.45% 31.32% 26.14% (4) Conclusions: play role restoring ecosystems absorb more CO2 as Therefore, they are useful dealing climate change.

Improving public health by tackling climate change
Across the world, climate change is now responsible for substantial mortality and morbidity, through direct effects on health and also by threatening the determinants of health. This commentary argues that adaptation policies to enhance resilience to adverse climate events are important, but must be coupled with determined action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The prize is synergy: many su...
متن کاملEffect of water table drawdown on northern peatland methane dynamics: Implications for climate change
[1] As natural sources of methane (CH4), peatlands play an important role in the global carbon cycle. Climate models predict that evapotranspiration will increase under a 2 CO2 scenario due to increased temperatures leading to lowered water tables at many northern latitudes. Given that the position of the water table within a peatland can have a large effect on CH4 emissions, climate change may...
متن کاملCarbon sequestration in peatland: patterns and mechanisms of response to climate change
The response of peatlands to changes in the climatic water budget is crucial to predicting potential feedbacks on the global carbon (C) cycle. To gain insight on the patterns and mechanisms of response, we linked a model of peat accumulation to a model of peatland hydrology, then applied these models to empirical data spanning the past 5000 years for the large mire Store Mosse in southern Swede...
متن کاملVascular plants promote ancient peatland carbon loss with climate warming
Northern peatlands have accumulated one third of the Earth's soil carbon stock since the last Ice Age. Rapid warming across northern biomes threatens to accelerate rates of peatland ecosystem respiration. Despite compensatory increases in net primary production, greater ecosystem respiration could signal the release of ancient, century- to millennia-old carbon from the peatland organic matter s...
متن کاملCarbon is Forever: a Climate Change Experiment on Cooperation∗
Greenhouse gases generate impacts that can last longer than human civilization itself. Such persistence may affect the behavioral ability to cooperate. In a lab experiment, we study mitigation efforts under such dynamic externality within a framework that reflects key features of climate change. In treatments with persistence, pollution cumulates and generates damages over time, while in anothe...
